LANCE KRAMER

Lance is a co-founder of ​M​eridian Hill Pictures ​and recipient of the 2014 DC Mayor’s Arts Award, the highest award given to working artists in Washington, DC. Lance is producer of the award-winning independent feature documentary ​C​ITY OF TREES
(2015), associate field producer of ​H​ARD EARNED (​Kartemquin Films series produced for Al Jazeera America), co-producer of ​V​OICES FROM WITHIN (​2014), associate producer of ​F​LY BY LIGHT (​2014). Prior to founding MHP, Lance worked as a journalist in Portland, Oregon covering arts and culture for ​W​ILLAMETTE WEEK ​a​nd the GRESHAM OUTLOOK. ​In 2006, Lance co-founded a summer ESL program for HIV/AIDS orphans in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with the NGO ​H​ope for Children. ​Lance holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Dartmouth College, during which time he studied French language and literature in Toulouse, France, and North African culture and history in Fez, Morocco. He is the author of ​G​reat Ancient China Projects, ​a children’s history book named to the American Bookseller’s Association Indie Next List in 2008.
