Erica Ginsberg is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Docs In Progress, a nonprofit incubator which has helped more than 1000 emerging documentary filmmakers in the Washington DC area and beyond. She is also co-host of The D-Word, an online documentary filmmaker community with more than 10,000 members from around the world.
Prior to her work at Docs In Progress, Erica spent nearly 20 years working as a civil servant with the U.S. Department of State where she managed international professional exchange programs. She also spent several years coordinating professional development programs for the Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations.
While her nonprofit work keeps her quite busy, Erica still finds time to work on documentary projects of her own. She produced Crucible of War a documentary about post-war life in former Yugoslavia, and is currently at work as producer and co-director on Creative Feds, a project about federal workers who moonlight as artists and musicians.
Erica has a B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University and an M.A. in Film and Video from American University. She lives outside of Washington DC in Greenbelt, Maryland, a historic community founded as a New Deal project. She enjoys travel; playing and designing interactive party games; and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Max.
