Our Zine of Islands: an Interview with Rex Halafihi

This intergenerational conversation with Pacific Islander scholar and zine-maker Rex Halafihi highlights how the DIY format can be used to continue traditional forms of Pacific Islander media-making.
Kapi’olani (Pio) Lee is a practicing multimedia artist and highly experienced arts educator living in the Portland, Oregon area. A graduate of the MFA Cinema program at San Francisco State University, she developed her arts education practice as a digital storytelling and media literacy instructor for a diverse array of community-based programs dedicated to social justice and cultural equity for young people in the Bay Area. In addition to her art-making and youth development work, she also works in the museum sector as a Digital Operations associate.
