ANDREMICHEL ESSOUNGOU

André Michel Essoungou joined the United Nations in 2009 as a Public Information Officer, and since then he has held various assignments, including with the Department of Public Information, the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and the Department of Political Affairs. Since June 2014, he is the Public Information Officer of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in New York. Prior to joining the UN, AndréMichel worked as a journalist for over a decade; mostly as a Foreign Correspondent. He has reported from Canada, the United States, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, and Switzerland for international media including the BBC World Service and Radio France International. His articles have appeared in The New York Times, Le Monde Diplomatique and French Daily Liberation, and more. AndréMichel is the author two books (including Justice à Arusha, published in Paris at l’Harmattan in 2006) and he holds a Master Degree in Political Science from Université de Genève (Switzerland).
