Job Description:

The Film/Video Department at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design seeks a committed temporary faculty member working in Moving Image to collaborate with our existing faculty and staff in creating an inclusive, diverse community in our BFA and MFA programs. We invite candidates who prioritize a decolonized curriculum and demonstrate an ability to work effectively with departmental faculty and staff and benefit a diverse student body.

The faculty in the Film/Video Department teach required core studio classes for all majors, and studio elective courses. Our curriculum embraces significant exploration with form and content and encompasses contemporary practices including multi-channel installation and VR video as well as experimental 16mm and handmade film. We seek faculty who teach in and/or across media and content, particularly in the realms of a diverse and inclusive moving image.

As part of their service, all full time Film/Video faculty serve on All-College Committees and participate in supervising departmental shows and screenings;  academic advising; reviewing student applicants and participating in undergraduate and graduate review boards.

Salary: $64,000 – $74,000 commensurate with experience

This position is governed by the MSCA collective bargain agreement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications:

We are seeking a colleague with:

Demonstrated ability to teach a range of skills and technologies necessary to successfully guide a student through the creation of personal moving image work from pre to post production including: shooting, recording audio and editing.
Well-versed in experimental media and installation
A demonstrated record of achievement in a personal moving image arts practice.
An ability to work collaboratively with others in the department.
One year teaching experience at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications:

A MFA or equivalent.
Demonstrate technical skills in: 16mm film, sound, experimental video, installation, expanded cinema, new genres/new media, AI, AR, VR, interactive work.
Proven record of diverse, inclusive content in courses taught.
Proficient in the current technologies used in the artistic practice of Moving Image.
Experienced with emerging media production and post-production technologies.
