DCTV, a nonprofit media arts center located in Chinatown/Tribeca, New York City, seeks an Event Operations Manager to join our team.
Founded in 1972, DCTV is a nonprofit media arts center and community of and for documentary filmmakers. We provide affordable hands-on workshops; equipment, post-production, and space rentals; a nonfiction screening and event series; and a free youth media training program – all complimented and invigorated by our 17-time Emmy Award winning and 2-time Academy Award nominated documentary production house. In 2020, we will open a cinema devoted completely to nonfiction programming.
Housed inside a beautiful gothic landmark firehouse (c.1895), DCTV is centrally located and home to a number of versatile event spaces. When not using our spaces for our own programs, renting them out to the public serves as a vital opportunity for earned income. The Event Operations Manager oversees DCTV’s multi-use space rentals for: film/photo/green screen shoots, production holding/catering, art exhibits, concerts, parties, dance/theater performances, product launches, lectures, rehearsals, screenings, fundraisers, and more. The Event Operations Manager is integral to the mission and vitality of DCTV and is held to the highest standards of professionalism.
Key responsibilities include:
Administer and ensure the highest standards for all day-to-day Space Rentals needs and operations, including providing professional customer service and support
Oversee all happenings in our rentable spaces, from set up to breakdown, for everything from internal meetings to third-party events
Coordinate all print traffic for screenings and schedule tests for all event A/V needs
Recruit, train, schedule, and manage all contracted event staff
Ensure that proper security and legalities are in place for all events
Maintain relationships with current Space Rentals clients and secure new ones
Monitor the upkeep and cleanliness of all rentable spaces and identify needs for improvement
Keep up-to-date on A/V technologies by investigating new systems and workflows
Organize, plan and coordinate for both routine maintenance and emergency repairs in rentable spaces
Maintain accurate records, including tracking purchase orders, payments, data on space usage and clients
Maintain up-to-date clear documentation for event staff and client guidelines
Collaborate with our communications team on Space Rentals marketing initiatives
Participate in the design and implementation of new technology initiatives at DCTV
Facilitate the organization-wide space usage calendar for all happenings within the building
Experience with event management/coordination, film production and technical proficiency
Strong understanding of, and sensibility for, NYC’s space rental landscape
Has connection in location scouting and/or art, music, performance, academia – outfits that could take advantage of our space rentals
Highly organized and communicative with superb attention to detail
Excellent project management skills
Possesses a working knowledge of digital filmmaking equipment and software
Customer service experience, with engaging presence and ability to serve a diverse clientele
Resourceful, detail-oriented, thorough, and deadline driven
Ability to take initiative, multi-task and prioritize in multi-faceted environment
Ability to work independently and be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Fosters a supportive, accountable and fun work environment
Proficient with Macs and G Suite
Compensation & Benefits:
Commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with a benefits package that includes medical insurance, 401K retirement plan, and paid vacation.
