Position: Arts Management Fellow

Department: Programming

Role Overview: This full-time year-long placement offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on line producing experience and work across LCPA departments and play a vital role in building and maintaining partnerships while welcoming New York back to the reimagined David Geffen Hall. The Arts Fellow/Project Manager plays a critical role in planning and executing high-impact Company-wide initiatives and special projects year-round that involve internal and external partners. This will involve continuously improving processes to increase the effectiveness of our teams and help build stronger and deeper relationships with artistic and community partners, and other LCPA Departments. The role demands a deep understanding of project management, partnership building, audience development, principled thinking, a high bar for quality, bold innovation and a passion for the role of the performing arts in building a better society. In addition, the fellow will join our Programming team and report to the Director of Artistic Programming. As part of a team of accomplished Line Producers, the fellow will be tasked with overseeing the advancement and execution of performances and securing all elements needed to fulfill the artist’s vision

This role is integral to the success of our performances and plays a key part in shaping the cultural landscape of New York City.

What you’ll get to do here:

Line Producing

  • Support the Director of Artistic Programming in advancing and planning performances, projects, and events across Lincoln Center Venues, with a focus on David Geffen Hall and Lincoln Center’s outdoor spaces.
  • Main artist contact throughout the entire producing process including but not limited to contracts, budgets, marketing materials, collecting tech and hospitality riders.
  • Contribute to onsite management alongside Line Producers; create a positive experience for artists and serve as onsite representative to ensure all concerns are addressed swiftly.
  • Work closely with Event Production Managers running and advancing shows: securing all production elements such as backline, equipment rental, and managing day-of schedules.
  • Budget management: make decisions that have a direct impact on the production related to rentals, housing, hospitality, and transportation.
  • Record and uphold the terms of media agreements; work with Lincoln Center’s video team as needed.
  • Represents Lincoln Center onsite.

Administrative & Project Management:

  • Support the Chief Artistic Officer and Vice President of Programming in special projects that require unique attention and expertise when it comes to partnerships and external collaborators.
  • Support Director of Artistic Programming in special projects lead by the Programming team.
  • Manage project timelines in collaboration with project leads to ensure successful on-time delivery of projects.
  • Keep track of the progress and process of the assigned projects; leading and maintaining internal departmental and external communication with different partners.
  • Organize and lead regular meetings to set and manage expectations and update project priorities, timelines, and goals. Communicate project status and success to Programming Team and partners.
  • Project manage complex and large-scale cross-team, cross-functional initiatives. Interface with managers and leaders to estimate work efforts, define milestones and manage resources
  • Maintain internal communications with Lincoln Center’s Departments including Performance and Campus Operations, Production, Legal, Marketing, Communication & Advocacy, and People Team, as well as LCPA constituent colleagues as applicable.
  • Together with the Programming team, support artistic and institutional relationships, building partnerships with Lincoln Center’s several departments, constituents, and artists.
  • Manages, maintains, and updates Monday.com, Arts Vision, and SharePoint as needed.

You’ll be a great fit if you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience in a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the performing arts.
  • A solution-minded approach when faced with challenges.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven department/organization.
  • A drive to get things done within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Able to work in a highly collaborative atmosphere and within a team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey ideas.
  • Attention to detail and solid organization skills.
  • Appetite for knowledge.
