About DCTV

Founded in 1972, DCTV is a nonprofit media arts center. It is located in a landmarked NYC firehouse where community screenings, youth media, and continuing education programs exist side by side with DCTV’s award-winning documentaries. In 2022, we will open DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema: A Center for Documentary Film, an independent cinema where filmmakers and film lovers can come together in appreciation of nonfiction film.

Summary of the Position

DCTV seeks a full-time Venue Rentals Manager. Housed inside a beautiful gothic landmark firehouse (c.1895), DCTV is centrally located and home to a number of versatile event spaces. The Venue Rentals Manager oversees DCTV’s multi-use space rentals for: film/photo/green screen shoots, production holding/catering, art exhibits, concerts, parties, dance/theater performances, product launches, lectures, rehearsals, non-cinema screenings, fundraisers, and more.

Responsibilities Overview:

● Create and execute a strategy and sales plan to drive venue rentals.

● Work closely with the CFO to determine yearly budget and sales goals.

● Research and stay abreast of similar venues, rates, and best practices.

● Oversee all happenings in our rentable spaces, from set up to breakdown, for everything from internal meetings to third-party events.

● Cultivate strong relationships with current venue rentals clients and secure new ones.

● Develop and maintain all documentation, including client contracts, event staff and client guidelines, purchase orders, payments, data on space usage and clients, etc.

● Collaborate with the communications manager on venue related marketing initiatives.

● Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that proper security and legalities are in place for all events ● Recruit, schedule, train, and manage all contracted event staff.

● Oversee all venue rentals events’ tech and A/V needs.

● Monitor the upkeep and cleanliness of all spaces ensuring that the facilities meet the needs of staff and clients.

● Organize, plan, and coordinate for both routine maintenance and emergency repairs in all spaces. ● Coordinate building renovations, space remodeling, and refurbishment

 

Qualifications

● B.A./B.S or equivalent professional experience.

● 5+ years of facilities management or project management experience.

● 5+ years of sales experience.

● 3+ years of supervisory experience.

● A track record of growing business in furtherance of an institution’s mission.

● Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

● Strong skills in problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.

● Proficiency with Google Apps, Microsoft Office Suite are necessary; Proficiency with Salesforce is strongly preferred.

● Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, move throughout the building, bend, reach, kneel, and stand for long periods of time during shifts.

● Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

 

Compensation & Benefits

The salary begins at $65,000 and benefits include 13 days paid vacation leave; 5 days paid sick leave; 12 paid holidays; participation in a 401(k); life insurance; medical/vision/dental; transit, health, and dependent care FSA.
