About DCTV

Founded in 1972, DCTV is a nonprofit media arts center. It is located in a landmarked NYC firehouse where community screenings, youth media, and continuing education programs exist side by side with DCTV’s award-winning documentaries. In 2022, we will open DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema: A Center for Documentary Film, an independent cinema where filmmakers and film lovers can come together in appreciation of nonfiction film.

Summary of the Position

DCTV seeks a full-time Cinema Operations Manager to operate DCTV’s Firehouse Cinema: A Center for Documentary Film. This single screen 67-seat theater will feature first run, curated, repertory, masterclasses, family programs and more, boasting 4K projection, 7.1 surround sound, interactive features to connect audiences worldwide, with concessions and an adjoining event space.

Responsibilities Overview:

Administer and ensure the highest standards for all day-to-day duties including:

● Recruit, train, schedule, and manage the front of house team.

● Produce and manage cinema events, including in-person and virtual Q&As.

● Oversee all print traffic, coordinating, receiving, and testing film deliverables.

● Oversee POS system for ticketing, concessions, membership and merch.

● Input film info and showtimes onto the website, ticketing system, and online showtime systems. ● Oversee all accessibility accommodations.

● Maintain accurate records, including purchase orders, payments, space usage, ticket sales, permits, and insurance.

● Order supplies and maintain concessions inventory.

● Manage cinema spaces and equipment maintenance, including cleaning, repairs, security, and health guidelines.

● Oversee guest relations, including working with Programming and Development to ensure panelists’ and members’ positive experiences respectively.

● Collaborate with the Venue Rentals Manager on events that involve both the cinema and DCTV’s other rentable spaces.

● Work with the director of programming to determine cinema rentals (four-walling, etc) and then manage them independently

● Develop and maintain all documentation from cinema client contracts to cinema event staff guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

● B.A./B.S or equivalent professional experience.

● 5+ years of venue/event/event management and operating experience at a cinema, an entertainment enterprise, presenting arts organization, or in a related hospitality sector preferred.

● Excellent managerial and organizational abilities.

● Must have passion for movies and knowledge of current cinema trends.

● Broad familiarity with digital projection and AV systems (i.e. Christie/Barco projectors, Dolby audio monitoring, etc.).

● Proficiency with Google Apps, Microsoft Office Suite are necessary. Proficiency with Salesforce, PatronManager, Crestron, and TriCaster are strongly preferred.

● Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, move throughout the building, bend, reach, kneel, and stand for long periods of time.

● Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary begins at $65,000 and benefits include 13 days paid vacation leave; 5 days paid sick leave; 12 paid holidays; participation in a 401(k); life insurance; medical/vision/dental; transit, health, and dependent care FSA.
