IMPACT

There is nothing soft about the quest for a significant life…. Never mind the platforms. Our solemn responsibility is for the substance.

  • The ALLIANCE’s Impact

In addition to providing a platform where independent media artists and media organizations can share the unique and transformative impact their work is having in their communities, The ALLIANCE will be sharing organizational impact through live data visualizations, infographics and rich media in this section of the website. Over the next few years, we will also research and facilitate a vibrant model of Collective Impact for the Media Arts field. Beginning Fall 2015, The ALLIANCE members will be able to take part in leadership trainings and peer circles to bring the principles of Collective Impact into action.

  • Impact Mapping and Reporting

In addition to archiving the most relevant research and tools available to the field on our RESOURCES page, The ALLIANCE is developing an impact-mapping platform called REPORTAL with the awesome team at Assemble.me. Sometime in 2016, we will introduce a new tool you can use (affordably!) to create live, interactive case studies. With REPORTAL, you can aggregate and update the data you think is important to showing the impact of your project, along with photographs, video, social media content, infographics and other rich content that can help you tell the “story of your story”—as it engages and delights audiences, embeds into the fabric of social movements, and changes the status quo.

Artists can’t gain insight from data if we don’t have any data. We can’t show the people how our story is rocking the world if it looks like the story is over. And we can’t create effective collaborative models if we don’t share at least some of our data out in the open.

Stay tuned for the beta. Join The ALLIANCE today to be first to test drive REPORTAL—(and if you already have a website on Assemble.me, you’re already on the list!)

The Five Conditions of Collective Impact Success

From FSG.org

Common Agenda: All participants share a vision for change that includes a common understanding of the problem and a joint approach to solving the problem through agreed-upon actions.

Shared Measurement: All participating organizations agree on the ways success will be measured and reported, with a short list of common indicators identified and used for learning and improvement.

Mutually Reinforcing Activities: A diverse set of stakeholders, typically across sectors, coordinate a set of differentiated activities through a mutually reinforcing plan of action.

Continuous Communication: All players engage in frequent and structured open communication to build trust, assure mutual objectives, and create common motivation.

Backbone Support: An independent, funded staff dedicated to the initiative provides ongoing support by guiding the initiative’s vision and strategy, supporting aligned activities, establishing shared measurement practices, building public will, advancing policy, and mobilizing resources.
